道光二十二年七月初四日(军录)

署理乍浦副都统奴才伊里布跪奏,为恭报奴才驰抵江省日期，及夷船现在情形,缮折奏祈圣鉴事。

窃奴才前奉谕旨,会同广州将军者英商办夷务，当经查称，夷船聚泊处所驰往妥办，并具折于六月二十八日先行奏闻。嗣于二十九日奴才驰抵常州途中,接准臣牛鉴函致,以该夷大帮船只驶至江宁,省城万分危急。奴才即星夜取道丹阳，兼程前进，于七月初三日驰至江省。查得夷船陆续驶至仪凤门外停泊,共有四十余只，因见防守严密,尚未开炮。屡经臣牛鉴遣弁备文,责以大义,设法羁縻。该夷酋喳始有回文,吁请通商和好，虽未免安事请求，其情词尚无悖谬。除先行备文差张禧、陈志刚前往明白晓谕,俟将军耆英于一二日内赶到,即钦遵谕旨,会同相机妥办外。理合先行由驿驰奏,伏乞皇上圣鉴。谨奏。

I, the acting deputy governor of Zhapu, Ili Bu, kneel down to report the date of my arrival in Jiang Province and the current situation of the foreign ships, and write a memorial to pray for the emperor's approval.

I was ordered to handle foreign affairs with the British merchants in Guangzhou. After investigation, I found that the foreign ships gathered and anchored in the place where they were properly handled. I reported it in advance on June 28th. Later, on the 29th, I arrived in Changzhou and received a letter from the minister Niu Jian, saying that a large group of foreign ships had sailed to Jiangning, and the provincial capital was in great danger. I immediately took the road to Danyang at night and rushed to Jiang Province on July 3rd. It was found that the foreign ships had sailed to the outside of Yifeng Gate one after another and anchored. There were more than 40 ships in total. Because the defense was tight, they had not yet fired. Minister Niu Jian has repeatedly sent out letters to accuse the barbarians of righteousness and try to restrain them. The barbarian chieftain Zha has finally replied, urging them to trade and make peace. Although it is a request for peace, his words are not contradictory. In addition to preparing a letter in advance and sending Zhang Xi and Chen Zhigang to make it clear, I will wait for General Qiying to arrive within one or two days, and then follow the emperor's order and work together to deal with it properly. It is reasonable to report it by post first, and I humbly ask for the emperor's approval. Respectfully report.
